My Story
Hello there!
I'm Yana, a certified Russian/English teacher, a language enthusiast, and a passionate advocate for Russian language and culture.
From a young age, I developed a deep love for exploring new languages and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. Little did I know that this early fascination with languages would shape my future.
I'm here to help you begin your own adventure through learning Russian, my native language.
Russian is not just a language to me; it's a gateway to a world of literary treasures and cultural wonders. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to read Leo Tolstoy in the original, immersing myself in the epic tale of War and Peace, even if it requires weeks of commitment. But one language was never enough for me. From my earliest days, my parents witnessed my early attempts at learning the English letters. Their unwavering support and encouragement throughout my school and university years fuelled my passion for English and language in general, leading me to a profound appreciation for the power of communication.
I had the privilege of studying at Moscow State Linguistic University, the oldest university specialising in linguistics and foreign languages in Russia. Following in the footsteps of renowned Russian novelist Ivan Goncharov, who also studied at this prestigious institution over 200 years ago, I immersed myself in a rich academic tradition. And if you haven't yet explored his novel Oblomov, in my opinion, this single book holds more wisdom than countless modern ones written about self-development. Guided by exceptional teachers and tutors, I graduated with a teaching degree, igniting my passion to help others on their language-learning journeys.
After completing my university degree, I embarked on an exciting career as a brand manager here in the UK. While my professional path had taken a different direction, my passion for languages and teaching remained. Throughout my time as a brand manager, I always found opportunities to engage with languages and help others achieve their language dreams, both big and small. The fulfilment I experienced from these teaching moments surpassed that of my day-to-day jobs. It became clear to me that teaching and making a meaningful impact on others' lives was where my true calling lay.
To Russian Horizons
In January 2020, I made the decision to leave my corporate job behind and pursue my passion. Inspired by my own experiences and driven by the desire to share the beauty of the Russian language and culture, I founded To Russian Horizons. This platform is designed to create a space where learners like you can embark on their own language-learning adventures.

When I started creating content, I noticed the lack of accessible online resources and support for learning Russian. Even today, with the abundance of content available, it can be overwhelming to find a reliable and effective way to truly master the language.
